Cardinals Slip Past New Jersey, 7-6
|
The St. Louis Cardinals beat the New Jersey Pioneers, 7-6, at Busch Stadium. Jordan Islas, in particular, was impressive. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. St. Louis occupies first place in the National League Central Division at 41-45.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with St. Louis trailing 6-5, Islas hit a cutter from Josh Nissen for a 2-run home run, giving the Cardinals the walk-off win.
"This wasn't a good win," said Islas. "It was a great win."
