Pirates Deal Pioneers 8-3 Loss
|
Getting offensive support from Darryl Palmer, the Pittsburgh Pirates topped the New Jersey Pioneers, 8-3. Palmer hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Pirates. The Pirates go to 36-60 with the win.
Pittsburgh used the timely hitting of Ronny Mauricio to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Pirates on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Palmer told a Pittsburgh Citizen reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
