Washington picked up a win at Guaranteed Rate Field, toppling the Chicago White Sox, 4-1. Pitcher Alan Farrell was one of the reasons the Nationals triumphed. The save went to Josh Bonk, his 25th this season. The Nationals now have a record of 54-48.

Washington second baseman Kevin Wengel had a key at-bat for the Nationals in the top of the sixth inning. Facing Chicago pitcher Antoine Kelly, Wengel hit a run-scoring double to make the score 1-0, Washington. For the day, he went 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Chicago skipper , "and it cost us."
