Phillies Down Marlins, 3-0
|
Citizens Bank Park was the site for National League action featuring the Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies.
Pat Balfanz never let the Marlins get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Phillies to a win, 3-0. J.B. Bukauskas closed the game out for Philadelphia, earning his 3rd save.
Austin Hays delivered a big hit for the Phillies. The veteran left fielder belted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. The longball put Philadelphia on top, 2-0. Overall, Hays went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Hays told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
The Phillies bumped their record to 57-45 with this win.
