Blue Jays Take Down Reds, 5-3
|
Toronto starter Josh Giebel pitched effectively against the Cincinnati Reds at Rogers Centre. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Ryan Weathers collected his 2nd save. Today's win puts Toronto at 47-59, while Cincinnati falls to 54-51.
The Blue Jays got an important contribution from first baseman Jacob Gonzalez, who in the bottom of the sixth knocked a 0-2 fastball into left-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 4th double of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead, 4-3.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Gonzalez told a Toronto Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
