Cubs Edge Past Rangers, 3-2
|
Chicago rode a decent outing from starter Joe Ransom to victory over the Texas Rangers. The final score was 3-2. Chicago reliever Tony Gonsolin picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Josh Shelton took the loss. With the win, Chicago goes to 51-54, while the Rangers fall to 36-68.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Luis Matos to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cubs on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Ransom said.
