White Sox Upend Blue Jays, 6-5
|
The Chicago White Sox weathered an outstanding game by Toronto right fielder Tony Rangel to topple the Blue Jays, 6-5. Rangel was 2-4 with 2 home runs. Butch Santoro notched his 11th save in 12 chances. At 64-59, the White Sox have a slim two-game lead in the American League North Division.
Lyn Harman, the 25-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Harman contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning to put Chicago up, 1-0.
In postgame comments to the Chicago Daily, Harman said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
