On Road, San Francisco Drops St. Louis, 7-0
|
The St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
St. Louis had no answer for San Francisco Giants starter Tommy McCormick, who flummoxed Cardinals hitters as the Giants cruised to victory, 7-0. McCormick, now 7-13, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing no runs.
With one out in the top of the third, Royce Lewis put San Francisco in front, 1-0, with a run-scoring single. The Giants went on to win the ballgame.
Lewis attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
The third-place Giants have a record of 64-71.
