Despite a great performance by Oakland third baseman Chris Carey, the Houston Astros defeated the Athletics by the score of 7-5 at Oakland Coliseum. Carey was 2-2 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Mike Cendejas was called on to finish, recording his 27th save.
