Guardians Top New York, 3-2
|
Cleveland right-hander Mike Slover helped his team edge New York by the score of 3-2. Slover kept the opposing lineup in check. The winner was Cleveland reliever Kevin Edwards, now 2-6. The loser was Junior Fernandez. Cleveland occupies last place in the American League North Division at 64-75.
Willi Castro drove in one run for Cleveland. In a tie game with one out in the bottom of the eighth, Castro came through with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Guardians in front, 3-2.
"It's a good day to be a fan after a win like that," Castro told the Cleveland Gazette.
