Reds Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Cincinnati Reds wiggled past the New York Mets, 5-4, at Citi Field. The win was highlighted by the performance of Cincinnati pitcher Jim Groome. Cincinnati goes to 73-66, New York to 80-60.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Jorge Brereton came to bat in the top of the 14th. Facing New York pitcher Nick Nelson, he hit a 0-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cincinnati on top, 5-4.
"Exciting game to play in," said Groome. "Getting the win makes it even better."
