Reds Win Nail-Biter, 2-1
|
The Cincinnati Reds had to overcome a good performance from Tampa Bay pitcher Dave Mace to claim a 2-1 win at Great American Ball Park. Mace went 9 innings and allowed 1 run. The Reds move to 81-68 with the win, while the Rays drop to 67-83.
The Reds procured the win, in large part because of shortstop Jon Riedl. In the bottom of the 12th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager .
