Rivera Hits 2 home runs in Nationals Win
|
The performance of Tony Rivera proved critical in helping Washington beat Houston, 8-4. The Nationals first baseman went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Bill Flores closed the game out for Washington, earning his 1st save. With the win, Washington goes to 2-3.
Rivera had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a first pitch fastball from Mike Cox, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Nationals a 7-4 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Rivera.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Nationals manager . "This one was nice to get."
