Young Nails 4 Homers Against Lake County
|
Fans at Classic Park won't soon forget the raw display of power put on by South Bend Cubs first baseman Ken Young today. Young smashed 4 home runs in South Bend's 32-3 victory over the Lake County Captains.
"To be honest with you, I have never even thought about hitting this many home runs in a game," Young said to reporters after the game. "Only legends hit this many home runs in a game and I ain't no legend."
In his history-making performance, Young victimized Lake County hurlers for 4 hits in 5 at-bats with 6 runs scored and 14 RBIs.
"What he did was unbelievable," said Lake County manager . "My guys gave it their best, but he hit some fine pitches. He was like -- he was in automatic home run mode today. He just had that great swing. It didn't matter what we threw him. It was gone."
Ken Young hit a three-run home run off Willie Renteria in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Andy Snyder in the 2nd, walked in a run in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jim Unknown in the 6th, walked in a run in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 8th.
Young is currently batting .302 with 10 home runs and 48 RBIs.
