Mets Sneak Past Pioneers, 3-2
|
The 3-2 New York win over New Jersey was due in large part to Bryson Stott. The Mets shortstop was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. New York reliever Robert Dominguez picked up the win, upping his record to 6-3. Josh Nissen shouldered the loss. Chris McBride collected his 36th save.
Stott had a timely hit for New York in the top of the ninth. With New Jersey trailing 2-1, he turned a 2-1 cutter into a 2-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season, making it 3-2, New York.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said New York skipper .
New York is now 89-63, 4½ games up in the National League Metropolitan Division.
