Boston Grabs 4-3 Road Win
|
Chris Neimeyer had a good game, but he could not keep the Washington Nationals from falling, 4-3, to the Boston Red Sox at Nationals Park. The Washington left fielder was 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk in the loss. Curt Perschau, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 4 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 12-11. With the win, Boston goes to 79-77, while the Nationals fall to 72-83.
It could have been a different outcome for Boston, had it not been for Xander Bogaerts, the five-time All-Star . Bogaerts contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put Boston up, 2-0.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Washington manager .
