Dodgers Use Late Rally to Win 5th Straight
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks got a superb performance from pitcher Bret D'Orazio, but the Los Angeles Dodgers still won the game, 4-3. D'Orazio threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Curt Barlow snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-6 on the season. Pat Pappas suffered the loss. The losing streak for Arizona has now reached 4 games.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Los Angeles designated hitter Danny White, facing Pat Pappas, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Dodgers the 4-3 win.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Arizona manager Forrest Sutherland. "But we decided not to take it."
