Mariners Pitching Ravaged by Scruton Friday, August 9th , 2030 A jubilant Jonathan Scruton joined the postgame press conference at Peoria Sports Complex today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Seattle (AZL) Mariners pitching staff he had just vanquished. "It may not have looked like it," said the Los Angeles A (AZL) Angels second baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different." That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led the Angels to a 19-1 win. "He made it look easy," said , manager of the Mariners. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously." Jonathan Scruton singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Joe Gaynier in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.
