Thomas Has Hot Hand, Bangs 6 hits Monday, September 9th , 2030 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 6-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Mike Thomas, it came around today. The 20-year-old right fielder scattered hits all over Peoria Sports Complex to pace the Kansas City (AZL) Royals to a 14-8 victory over the Seattle (AZL) Mariners. Seattle (AZL) skipper told reporters in the press room that "Thomas deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Thomas hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Mike Thomas hit a two-run home run off Jared Fersch in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Joe Gaynier in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. Thomas has collected 47 hits for the Royals this year, 5 of them home runs. He has also netted 24 RBIs and scored 21 runs while batting .305. View Boxscore |
