Marte Touches All the Bases, Hits for Cycle Tuesday, August 29th , 2023 Starling Marte accomplished one of the rarer feats in baseball today when he hit for the cycle against the Miami Marlins in the 13-1 Cincinnati Reds win at loanDepot Park. Afterward, Marte acknowledged that his accomplishment was special, but said he was more interested in helping the Reds win. "Maybe one day I'll look back on this with more meaning, but right now I just want to go out tomorrow and put some good swings on the ball and help my club win another game," Marte said. On his historic day, he went 4-for-6 with 7 RBI and 3 runs scored -- and also got a spot in the history books. Starling Marte hit a two-run home run off Braxton Garrett in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and hit a three-run triple in the 9th.
