Minnesota Swaps Matheny to Oakland for DeMatteis Monday, August 5th , 2030 Proving the old adage that one man's trash is another man's treasure, the Twins announced today the acquisition of 22-year old minor league LHP Tim DeMatteis, 22-year old minor league SS Chris Sanfilippo, 22-year old minor league LF Greg Ashcroft, and 23-year old minor league 3B Vince Lesher from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for 30-year old RF Geoff Matheny. "This isn't the deal of the century," acknowledged the Twins, "but we think it will improve the direction of both teams." Minnesota will retain a portion of Matheny's remaining contract. Currently Matheny has 7 home runs and a .222 batting average. |
