South Bend-Lake County Free-for-All Gets 2-Game Suspensions Thursday, August 22nd , 2030 At a recent Cubs-Captains contest at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium, Nicolá Ganganelli of South Bend took exception to what Chris McCormack of Lake County said to him and tackled him. This led to an old-fashioned bench-clearing free-for-all between the two clubs. After the umpires restored order, they ejected both players. Today the league commissioner's office took action and suspended each player for 2 games, citing them for "inappropriate and aggressive conduct." Ganganelli is hitting .355 for the season with 1 home run, 26 RBIs and 36 runs scored. He has 88 hits in 248 at-bats and played in 65 games. This season McCormack has recorded a 0-1 won-lost mark, pitched in 15 relief appearances and rung up 5 saves. He has a 5.60 ERA and has allowed 16 hits over his 17.2 innings of work, struck out 11 batters and walked 17. |
