Phillips Selected 2026 CAEL Most Valuable Player Award
Thursday, October 22nd, 2026
At the age of 24, Kevin Phillips of the Manhattan Beach Badfish could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2026 was good enough to win the center fielder the California Expansion league Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .273 batting average this year, as well as a .342 on-base percentage. He played 146 games and racked up 159 hits, 34 doubles, 8 triples, 20 home runs, 77 RBIs and 95 runs scored.
José Gonsáles of the Manhattan Beach Badfish finished second in voting, while Mike West of the Manhattan Beach Badfish finished third.
