At the age of 21, Jim Hines says he still has a lot to learn about life in Low-A Southeast.

But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Daytona Tortugas reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2029 Low-A Southeast Reliever of the Year Award.

"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the
Muskogee, Oklahoma native said.

For the season, Hines had 19 saves in 60 relief appearances, which totaled 77.2. He fanned 56 betters, while walking 29 and put up a record of 4-5 to go with his 3.13 ERA.

He received 6 first place votes out of a possible 10. Freilyn De Pena of the Jupiter Hammerheads finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Jesus Garibaldi of the Clearwater Threshers finished third.
