Fields Hot, Tarpons Cold
Monday, June 10th , 2030
It wasn't easy but the Clearwater Threshers made it look that way.
Starter Derek Fields shut out the Tampa Tarpons despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Clearwater Threshers cruised to victory, 5-0. Fields allowed only 1 hit and rang up 6 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
His record this season is 5-0 in 10 starts and Fields has a 2.66 ERA.
