Athletics Deal Yankees 9-5 Loss
|
The New York Yankees got a superb performance from pitcher Gordon Roberge, but the Oakland Athletics still won the game, 9-5. Roberge threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The Yankees drop to 14-18 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2071 season.
Had Tom Yarbrough not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Yarbrough hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Athletics.
"I like the roll we're on," said Oakland manager Cary Rosen.
