Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the American League Wild Card Round. It turned out quite a bit different.


The Houston Astros swept aside the Minnesota Twins to advance to the Divisional, winning the final game by a 5-3 score at Target Field.

The series MVP was center fielder Roberto Beltrán, who hit .600 with a .600 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 1 RBI and scored 2 runs.

"We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."

The Houston Astros will play against the Detroit Tigers in the next round. Detroit had a bye in the Wild Card Round. The Divisional schedule will be announced after the Wild Card Round finishes.
