Wild Card Round Game 1 Victory for Piñeiro and Pittsburgh
The Pittsburgh Pirates powered past the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-1, in the opener of the Wild Card Round at PNC Park today. Pittsburgh starting pitcher Gerardo Piñeiro threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Pirates now lead the series 1-0.

The Pirates picked up the win with a combination of good hitting and good pitching.

"We don't have much margin for error now," Dodgers manager Charles Musgrave said. "We need to figure out the problem and fix it, immediately."

Game 2 is scheduled for Monday at Dodger Stadium.
