Cervantes Homers Twice in 10-2 Nationals Win
|
The Washington Nationals bested the Cincinnati Reds, 10-2, at Nationals Park. Aureliano Cervantes was one of the standouts. He hit 2 home runs, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 4. Jorge Trespalácios, the winner, improved to 5-1. He held the Reds to 1 run on 4 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Fernando Icaza collected his 1st save.
Washington grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Cervantes, who finished 5th in the NL in on-base percentage with .378 in 2067, hit a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season put the Nationals out in front, 3-1.
"We had a nice day," said Washington skipper Ryan Martin.
The Nationals sport a record of 37-10.
