Blue Jays Subdue Baltimore, 5-3
|
The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 5-3, at Rogers Centre. Toronto designated hitter Ramón Rocha was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. Juan Luna got the save, his 4th in 8 chances. The Blue Jays improve their record to 67-88 with the win over Baltimore.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Blue Jays had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the sixth, when first baseman Mark Robles hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Jeff Johnson and made the score 4-3, Blue Jays. Robles was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch.
"I really like what we did out there today," Rocha said after the game.
