Brewers Clip Cubs, 4-3
|
The Milwaukee Brewers eked out a 4-3 win versus the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Carl Morris, who captured player of the game honors. Morris got the win, improving to 4-10. He allowed 3 hits and walked 5 over 6.1 innings. Morris allowed 1 earned run. Cecil Jones earned the save for Milwaukee, his 1st.
An important at-bat for the Brewers came in the top of the seventh, when third baseman Rob Dwyer stroked a 2-run double. That made the score 2-0 in favor of Milwaukee. For the day, Dwyer went 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Chicago manager Kaleb Gibbs.
The losing streak for Chicago has now reached 12 games.
