Yankees Hammered by Edwards, Drop Game 1 to Indians
|
The Cleveland Indians started the Divisional in style today, winning on the road against the New York Yankees at New Yankee Stadium by a score of 7-4 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Indians right fielder Bruce Edwards was named player of the game after he was 1-2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
Edwards had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the top of the fourth inning, when he drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Indians went on to win.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Cleveland manager Randy Pickard.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at New Yankee Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Luis García for Cleveland and Pablo González for New York.
