Blue Jays Squelch Pirates Offense in Shutout Win
The Toronto Blue Jays got a magnificent effort from pitcher Dave Braun, who kept Pittsburgh hitters in check en route to a 3-0 Blue Jays win at PNC Park. Braun, the winner, moves to 3-7. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 1 walk. The save went to Lou Markakis, number 8 for him.

Pittsburgh had a runner on 1st in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out, Greg Meyer came to bat, hoping to do some damage. Instead, he hit into a double play. The score remained 2-0, Toronto. The Pirates saw their comeback bid fail.

The victory gives Toronto a record of 30-27.
