Seattle Gets 8-5 Win
|
The Seattle Mariners picked up a win at Presidio Park, knocking off the San Francisco Giants, 8-5. Starting pitcher Pepe Rivas played a key role in the triumph. Rivas picked up the win for Seattle, going 6 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. San Francisco has now lost 5 straight.
Seattle used the clutch hitting of Mike Heethe to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Mariners the lead, 8-3. For the game, Heethe had 1 single and 1 double in 3 at-bats.
"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Heethe told the Seattle Gazette.
