Mariners Get One-Run Win at Cleveland
|
The Seattle Mariners did just enough to secure a victory over the Cleveland Indians, 5-4, at Pickard Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Mark Wilson. Wilson went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-0. The Mariners move to 28-32 with the win, while the Indians drop to 27-33.
Mark Taylor, the 25-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Taylor contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Seattle up, 5-2.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Wilson.
