Warhounds Lose By a Run at San Francisco, 5-4
|
Presidio Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the San Francisco Giants and Carolina Warhounds.
Behind the hitting of Mel Franklin, the San Francisco Giants stopped the Carolina Warhounds, 5-4. Franklin was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Giants. Javier Durán earned the win for San Francisco. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 5-7.
Had Jesús Sosa not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Sosa hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Giants.
"Winning never gets dull," said Sosa.
The win elevated the Giants to 44-39.
