The Tampa Bay Rays had to overcome a good performance from Texas pitcher Francisco Martínez to claim a 3-0 win at Tropicana Field. Martínez went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Fernando Gutiérrez finished to wrap up his 10th save. With the win, the Rays sit at 48-46.

Jorge Baca, who finished 4th in the AL in slugging percentage with .579 in 2065, chipped in for Tampa Bay with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Baca told the Tampa Bay News.
