|
Seattle pitcher Rod Pearson did his part in helping his team beat the Miami Marlins, 7-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Pearson, now 2-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Ed Fowler earned the save, his 1st in 3 tries.
The Mariners got a big at-bat from third baseman Pete Williams. For the game, Williams was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 19th double of the season gave Seattle a 2-0 lead.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Pearson.
The win puts Seattle at 38-67.
