José García was instrumental in his team's 7-3 triumph over the New York Yankees. The third baseman belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Boston Red Sox. At 50-68, the Red Sox claim last place in the American League Eastern Division.

With Boston leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, García hit a sinker from Seung-jin Kung for a 2-run home run. It was his 24th home run of the season and put the Red Sox ahead, 3-0.
