Cardinals Run Win Streak to 6
|
The St. Louis Cardinals topped the Arizona Diamondbacks by a score of 7-2. Leading the way was shortstop Armando Torres. Torres went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Cardinals. Tom Pryor got the win, improving to 2-1. He held the Diamondbacks to 2 runs on 4 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Stephen Stady recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 4 for 6.
Emiliano Girometta dealt the Diamondbacks a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and St. Louis leading 1-0, Girometta, who is tied for 7th in the NL in extra base hits with 66, hit a first pitch cutter for a 2-run single.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said St. Louis manager Ron Harrison.
The second-place Diamondbacks have lost 4 straight games.
