Fine Effort by Hsueh Not Enough in 7-5 Athletics Loss
The Oakland Athletics and Baltimore Orioles were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Baltimore Orioles had to overcome a big game from Oakland third baseman Yang-cheng Hsueh to leave Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum with a victory. And they did, winning 7-5. Hsueh was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Jeremy Syzmans earned the win for Baltimore. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 4-6. Getting the save was Ernesto Cruz, his 32nd.

Roberto Snyder put Baltimore in front, 5-2, when he hit a 2-run home run off Clinton HOl in the top of the fourth. It was his 11th home run of the season.

"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Snyder told the Baltimore News.

At 72-61, the Orioles have a slim two-game lead in the American League Eastern Division.
