Nationals Paste Braves, 12-1
|
The performance of Gabriel Chacón proved critical in helping Washington beat Atlanta, 12-1. The Nationals left fielder went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. The National League Southern Division-leading Nationals are 94-45.
With Washington leading 2-0 in the top of the second, Chacón hit a cutter from Ramón Cantú for a 3-run home run. It was his 26th home run of the season and put the Nationals ahead, 5-0.
Nationals manager Ryan Martin had nothing but praise for his players after an impressive win, calling the result one of the team's best performances of the season. "Everything just came together on our end," he said. "I didn't need to do too much."
