Chacón Lifts Nationals to 10-6 Triumph
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Carolina Warhounds and Washington Nationals get after it.
Gabriel Chacón was a major factor in the 10-6 Washington win over Carolina. The Nationals left fielder went 4-4 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The winning pitcher was Jorge Trespalácios. He's now 1-0. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits for the Nationals.
Iemochi Sasaki, who finished 5th in the NL in slugging percentage with .576 last year, contributed to the Washington win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder had 3 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Chacón told a Washington Chronicle reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
The loss puts Carolina at 0-2.
