Rangers Prevail, 7-6, Over Colorado
|
Despite a great performance by Colorado designated hitter Clyde Walmsley, the Texas Rangers defeated the Rockies by the score of 7-6 at Coors Field. Walmsley was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Texas reliever Jim Dawson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mike O'Brien absorbed the loss. The victory makes Texas 10-3.
Texas used the timely hitting of Michael Gutiérrez to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rangers on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Gutiérrez said.
