Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Twins
|
The Minnesota Twins took Boston pitcher Paul Crawford's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Fenway Park. The final score had Minnesota getting past the Red Sox, 4-2. Crawford went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 5. Víctor Ortega picked up the save, his 4th. Minnesota has a record of 7-8.
Minnesota used the timely hitting of Jamal Cervantes to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Twins on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Minnesota manager Brian Odeja. "Our pregame was pretty good."
