Rays Rebuff Royals, 3-1
|
In a well-pitched game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Kansas City Royals, pitcher Armando Guillén was fantastic. The Tampa Bay right-hander helped his team secure the win, 3-1. Fernando Gutiérrez closed it out for his 20th save. The last-place Rays lifted their record to 68-87.
The Rays got a big at-bat from second baseman Ken Potter. For the game, Potter was 1-4 with a triple. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 12th triple of the season gave Tampa Bay a 2-1 lead.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Tampa Bay skipper Kyle Frasier. "I can't complain."
