With second baseman David López leading the charge, the New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates, 10-4, at PNC Park. López, who finished 4th in the AL in triples with 9 in 2067, went 3 for 4 with a triple and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Picking up the win was Aaron Murray. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits. The right--hander struck out 4 and walked 2. Even with the win, the Mets have a dismal 51-105 record.

Tsuneari Yamaguchi, the 23-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Yamaguchi contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put New York up, 3-1.
