Marlins Go Down to Defeat, 2-0
|
The Atlanta Braves got a magnificent performance from pitcher Gary Robinson, who stifled the Miami offense en route to a 2-0 Braves win at Turner Field. Robinson, the winner, moves to 5-14. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. Juan Aguilar picked up the save, his 25th.
Atlanta second baseman Ray Long contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a slider into left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 61st hit of the season and put the Braves ahead, 1-0.
"We did just enough to win," Long said.
Atlanta, at 47-110, holds down last place in the National League Southern Division.
