Cubs Get 6-5 Win Versus Cincinnati
|
The Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs provided some drama for the home crowd.
Chicago right fielder Hunter Mathis had a 3-RBI game, which proved instrumental in his team beating the Cincinnati Reds, 6-5. Mathis picked up 1 single and 1 double in the ballgame. Chicago starter Peter Stevenson was credited with the win after throwing 100 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-3.
Mathis had a consequential at-bat in the bottom of the fifth for the Cubs. Coming up with the bases loaded and Chicago trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Mathis.
At 59-100, the Cubs find themselves in last place in the National League Central Division.
