Dodgers Fall Short at San Francisco, 6-5
|
The San Francisco Giants overcame a fine performance by Los Angeles right fielder Andrés Ortíz to defeat the Dodgers, 6-5, at Presidio Park. Ortíz went 3-5 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. San Francisco reliever Juan Carlos Muñóz picked up the win, upping his record to 6-7. Esteban Chávez absorbed the loss. San Francisco bumps their record to 82-80 with the win.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when San Francisco third baseman Jason Lacy, facing Esteban Chávez, had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It gave the Giants the 6-5 win.
"This game had its share of tense moments," Lacy said, postgame.
